Pfaffl Winery is run by two siblings who manage the family winery together. Roman Josef Pfaffl is the vineyard manager and winemaker. He sees it as vital to take responsibility for these tasks personally. Roman’s sister Heidi Fischer takes care of business administration and her specialty, marketing.
The Pfaffl vineyards are located in 10 different villages near our home village Stetten. Also Vienna belongs to this group as Stetten is quite close to the capital. Therefore, some of the wines come from the wine region of Vienna, but most of them from Weinviertel. They work around 110 hectares of vineyards and the scattered vineyards bring along very different soils and microclimates. Therefore they can offer a number of different grape varieties and wine types.
Wien 2 shows the cherry fruit and supple texture of Zweigelt, and it is united with the delicate strawberry and elegance of Pinot Noir. The sandy, chalk of the Bisamberg promotes finesse and complexity in this Viennese blend. Dark ruby red; berry fruit on the nose: blackberry, some raspberry and full cherry fruit. Soft tannins on the palate, compact body with some hints of strawberry, juicy and spicy finish.
