Schloss Johannisberg, Riesling Spätlese Grünlack

‘One of the greatest Riesling-terroirs on the Planet Wine’ wrote Robert Parker of this vineyard.

Few wine enthusiasts realize that with every sip of Riesling from Schloss Johannisberg, they are enjoying the legacy of nearly 1,200 years of wine making history. They devoted themselves exclusively to Riesling in 1720, which makes them the world`s oldest Riesling estate. And if that’s not enough, it is also claimed that the world’s first Spatlese, from overripe and partly botrytised grapes, was picked here in 1770.

Schloss Johannisberg is the spiritual home of Spätlese Riesling and they still know how to do it. The Riesling Spätlese Grünlack has a fragrance which is not shy yet nuanced and multi-layered, with great diversity of fruit. On the palate The Grünlack is simply delicious; juicy, zesty, animated and tingling. Sweet apple, peach and orange are just some of an amazing array of fruit on show here – sweet and refreshing at the same time.
