Pouilly Fuissé Vieilles Vignes, Domaine des Deux Roches

This domaine is based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, and is jointly owned by Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region. The wines of Deux Roches are known for their drinkability and offer great value for money; the domaine is particularly known for its excellent Saint-Véran.

Always looking to achieve the highest possible quality for their wines, they achieved the High Environmental Certification in 2017 and are now working towards becoming certified organic.

Domaine des Deux Roches Pouilly Fuisse is a blend of parcels on the estate. The vines are mainly planted on limestone clay hillsides near the Rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, and also at Chaintré and Fuissé. This selection enables Domaine des Roches to produce a delicate, mineral wine, with bright, refined aromas and a rich, solid structure. Fermentation takes place in exclusively in barrel (20% in demi-muids of 600 litres, less than 10% new wood). Malolactic fermentation is carried out, or not, depending on the vintage. The wine is then aged on fine lees until the spring.

Honeysuckle blossom explodes in the glass with apricot and citrus fruits. Pouilly Fuissé Vieilles Vignes has a smooth texture which accentuates the ripe apricot notes of this delectable and perfectly balanced wine that is an ideal introduction to the appellation. Nice minerality with green apple, citrus supporting the apricot flavours. Developing some delightful brioche notes which will increase with extra bottle age.
