Pouilly-Fuisse 1er Cru, Domaine Deux Roches

The Deux Roches domaine is based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, and is jointly owned by Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region. The wines of Deux Roches are known for their drinkability and offer great value for money.

Always looking to achieve the highest possible quality for their wines, they achieved the High Environmental Certification in 2017 and are now working towards becoming certified organic.

Domaine des Deux Roches Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru is a blend of parcels on the estate – from 3 plots with intensely calcareous soils, located in the municipalities of Vergisson and Chaintrée.

The handpicked grapes were loaded by gravity into pneumatic presses, using long cycles in order to preserve the aromatic finesse. The musts are cold stabilized then decanted and put in barrels for fermentation. The aging of 19 months includes 11months in barrels then 8 months on the lees in vats.

The wine has a nose of very ripe yellow stone fruits and white flower aromatics. The attack is clean and frank. On the palate notes of brioche flow in; the wine reveals all its richness and complexity, with apricot and peach, and notes of wet stones. The finish is intensely saline.
