Chateau Musar’s youthful “Jeune” wines are made from the fruit of low-yielding, organically certified, Bekaa Valley vines at around 1000 metres above sea level. Produced naturally with a non-interventionist wine making philosophy. The first winery in Lebanon to implement organically certified viticulture.
The 2021 vintage is a blend of Cinsault (50%), Syrah (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), selected from vineyards with varying ages of vines and soils. Of all the reds this year, the Syrah was outstanding.
The grapes were fermented in concrete vats with temperatures between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius. It was a race against the clock to have the wine fermented and racked, and to release fermentation vats for the grapes that needed saving from the heatwave. The Musar Jeune Red was blended in March 2021 and then rested in the vats until being bottled during the summer of 2021 and released in the spring of 2022. Musar Jeune Red is unfiltered and made according to our non-interventionist wine-making philosophy.
The Musar Jeune Rouge is deep purple beetroot colour with a nose and palate of more red fruits than black; strawberries and cherries. Unoaked, with a savoury, earthy depth and a touch of spice and black pepper define the 2021 vintage. It is an elegant wine with layers of taste and lots of potential to age and develop from its’ release in 2023.
