Manoir du Carra, Beaujolais Villages, Non Filtré

The Sambardier family from Manoir du Carra have been our ‘go-to’ Beaujolais producers for many years. They have 35 hectares of vineyards with the 19ha of Villages on exceptionally exposed granite slopes in the southern Beaujolais hills above Denicé, where they have been for generations.

This Beaujolais Village is a blend of grapes from two south exposed hills on pink granite soil with a total surface of 5 hectares. These vines are very old – 70 to 100 years old. With a manual harvest and selection of the best grapes on a vibrating sorting table. Then vatting of the entire bunches for a typical Beaujolais semi-carbonic maceration which lasts 10 to 12 days.
Ageing lasts 3 to 4 months on fine lees in old oak casks to enhance micro oxygenation. In the end, natural or cold static decanting.

Ruby red in colour with ample raspberry and cherry fruit, and flint on the nose. Classic red berry and mineral flavours are well balanced by the medium body, and fresh style. Not filtered but cold settled which gives the tannins an enjoyable grainy texture.
