Les Amis de la Bouissiere, Domaine la Bouissiere

Located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Gigondas, the Domaine la Bouissiere vineyard was entirely planted in the 55-60s by Antonin Faravel. Later  in 1990 is sons Gilles and Thierry took over. Today, the Faravels are considered one of the leading artisan winemakers in Gigondas, if not in the whole southern Rhône valley. Since the late 80s, the family has been dedicated to organic farming, using organic fertilizers and as little sulfates as possible in their wines. “You have to respect the wine,” says Thierry, and this shows: harvest is always by hand, and wines are never pumped but led from tank to barrel via gravity. Vinification is always as natural as possible, each vintage dictating how the brothers handle each varietal through fermentation and aging. Wines are seldom fined or filtered

The Les Amis is a classic blend of Merlot 54%, Syrah 40%, Grenache 6%. The grapes are hand picked, fully destemmed, lightly crushed, fermented for 20 days with daily pumping over and punching down. Unfined and unfiltered at bottling.

The wines is aged on fine lees in tank. Never racked to remain maximum CO2 and avoid excessive sulfiting.

The Les Amis de la Bouissiere is a fresh, agreeable and easy drinking wine that still retains the character of the land and the care with which it is made. Fruit-forward, the plush roundness of the south showing—spicy, balanced and perfectly Provencal.
