Nina and Steve Moularadellis both emigrated from Greece to Australia as young adults, seeking a better life in the 1960s. They met while picking fruit in the Riverland region of South Australia, where they had both chosen to settle. When they could afford it, they bought their own block of land on which they gradually planted fruit orchards as well as a vineyard.
From these beginnings Kingston Estate Wines has grown to become one of Australia’s most significant grape growers and wine exporters, strongly focused on long term relationships with customers around the world and building our reputation for quality, reliability and continuous improvement.
In addition to the grapes grown on their own vineyards they work with a large number of independent grower vineyards. By sourcing varies by region and vintage Kingston can produce great regional wines and create opportunities to work with positive, progressive and sustainable wine growers.
As one of Australia’s oldest wine producing regions, the Clare Valley with its warm days and cooling afternoon and night breezes, is synonymous for producing slow ripening complex wines.
This wine offers rich ripe blackberry fruits on the nose which are lifted with hints of mint and sweet vanillin oak. On the palate the dense liquorice like fruit is seamlessly integrated with silky tannins to deliver a savoury finish. This is a perfect match for Mediterranean-style braised lamb shanks.
