Eshcol Chardonnay, Trefethan Winery

The Eshcol is from the Trefethen portfolio as an introduction to their estate grown and sustainably produced wines. Crafted for those looking for Napa Valley quality at an accessible price, Eshcol delivers an incredible value.

Eshcol (esh.kol) is named in homage to Trefethen’s historic winery which was built in a grove of towering oak trees at the centre of Eshcol Ranch, directly across the street from the Oak Knoll train station. The label design is both detailed and thoughtful; a symbol of the Trefethen’s values: family, respect, authenticity, sustainability, joy, and learning.

Trefethen has been awarded the California Green Medal Environment Award for 2022. The California Green Medal Sustainable Winegrowing Leadership Awards provide recognition to vineyards and wineries that are leaders in implementing the three tenets of sustainability: environmental, economic, and social equity. Also Napa Green Winery Certified, Napa Green Vineyard Certified.

Trefethen’s approach to Chardonnay is always balanced, with judicious use of oak (9 months) and malolactic fermentation (which causes buttery flavours). Crafted with select estate lots, the Eshcol Chardonnay’s bouquet is beautifully complex. Aromas of apple and grapefruit with floral hints of lavender carry through to a bright and robust palate. Crisp flavours of tropical fruit and green apple are layered with rich notes of raw honey, leading to a complex finish.
