Cotswold Distillery Founder’s Choice Single Malt Whisky is their first cask strength release, made with 100% locally grown, floor-malted barley and aged exclusively in their founder Dan’s favourite casks: shaved, toasted and re-charred American oak red wine barriques. These uniquely active casks give a rich and intense maturation to their fruit new make spirit, offering toffee, oak and red fruits, and a beautiful, deep colour. Non chill filtered.
On the nose there is dry hay and cut wood, with dark chocolate and dried figs, and plums in sweet syrup. On the palate there is warming cereal and toast notes, with lots of fresh red fruits and butterscotch. It finishes very strongly with hints of spicy oak, lots of dried fruit and a lingering nutty, dry note.
We don’t believe in rules when it comes to enjoying whisky – sip this neat, over ice, in a cocktail – however you like!
