Mastering the nuances of Southern French varietals and combining traditional and modern winemaking techniques, Xavier Roger wines are a superb example of the quality that are now being produced in the South of France. Using the best parcels in the area, the quality of the range is truly outstanding.
The Coquille de Terre is a really startling and profoundly enjoyable red for one so young. It overflows with lush fruits and soft integrated tannins. The grapes for this wine come from old Carignan vines, some of which are up to 80 years old. Purple red with lovely aromas of blackberry and vanilla. Just heavier than a pinot noir but velvety, with intense red berries and a lingering finish.
