Circle of Life Red is neither defined by grape varietals, nor indeed a specific block within the vineyard, but instead encapsulates the myriad soils, aspects, altitudes and grape varieties found on this windswept, biodynamic farm. Grapes are hand-harvested and brought to the cellar by horses for hand-sorting. No fining, just a light filtration. No additions other than sulphites. Vegan friendly, biodynamic wine. The final blend is made up of Mourvedre 85%, Syrah, Grenache.
The Circle of Life 2023 is fresh and full of fruit with good acidity, evolving into riper flavours with lightly spicy notes. The Mourvedre gives elegant tannins, a smokey plum fruit and fine, bright acid on the finish.
Waterkloof achieved Biodiversity Champion status in 2008 which complements and integrates many key principles of biodynamic farming they have since converted the vineyard to these practices and in 2012 full certification was complete.
