Château Tayac, Margaux, Bordeaux

Château Tayac’s vineyards cover an area of 37 hectares on the gravelly soils around Soussans. In the Portet family for 4 generations, this is very much a family affair. Guy Portet uses the Méthode Cousinié; this is a system of observation and analysis to maintain optimum vineyard health and balance with minimal treatments. Nicolas Portet is the winemaker; the wine style is harmonious and well-balanced allowing the excellent fruit quality to shine through

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 55%, Merlot 40%, Petit Verdot 5%.  Aging for 10-12 months in French oak barrels of which 35% are new. . Fermentation in a mix of cement and stainless-steel tanks. Although the 2022 vintage is very young it is attractive with plenty of grip and drinking well now. However, it will cellar very well for at least 5-10 years.

This Margaux is bright and attractive, with pronounced dense fruit redolent of blackberries, and cassis, together with well-integrated oak adding a mocha note to the finish. Allow it to enjoy some extra time in bottle to get the best out of this stylish wine.
