Château La Gorce, Medoc, Cru Bourgeois

Situated in the heart of the prestigious Médoc region lies the magnificent Château La Gorce. Swathed in history, this winery is a true embodiment of French sophistication and elegance.  In operation since 1822, recognized as a cru bourgeois in the 1932 classification, the estate was taken over in 2018 by Emmanuel and Mana Martin who immediately initiated the conversion of the entire forty-eight hectares to organic farming, now completed on all the cuvées since the 2022 vintage.

The estate, extending over 18 hectares of vine-covered slopes, features a charming 19th-century Chateau. This winery boasts of a splendid assortment of grape varieties used in their winemaking. This includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

To add to the appeal, Château La Gorce has been recognised globally for its commitment to the environment. It is one of the few wineries in the region that has opted for sustainable agricultural methods, catering to the preservation of biodiversity.

Château La Gorce, Médoc, Cru Bourgeois, is a remarkable French wine. The elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot exhibits a dark ruby hue whilst teasing the palate with pronounced blackberry, cedar, and savoury hints. Its substantial structure and armour of smooth tannins intertwine perfectly, offering superb longevity. The wine undergoes traditional vinification and then matures in oak barrels, which offer distinct notes of toast and vanilla. A Cru Bourgeois of superior quality and character.

The nose is fruity, with raspberry, cherry, toast, vanilla and a hint of chocolate. The palate is fresh and mineral with notes of  cherry, redcurrant and blackcurrant. Hints of fresh flowers and liquorice linger. The tannins are well managed with good length.
