Chassagne-Montrachet, 1er Cru, Les Champs-Gain, Vieilles Vignes, V&F Jouard

Vincent & François Jouard have been making wine for 6 generations. The 1er Cru Climate is located under the Caillerets, between La Maltroie and Morgeot, with a full southeast exposure. The parcel of vineyards used in this wine is situated on the lower slopes, south of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet and covers 0.54 hectares in this appellation where the vines are aged 40 years on average.

The soil, limestone-based, is shallow and marly in the upper part, becoming deeper and more clayey at the bottom of the slope.

The Jouard cuvées reflect the authentic expression of the terroir and the vintage, capturing the richness and complexity characteristic of Chassagne-Montrachet wines.
The wines are aged in oak barrels (1/3 of which are new) for 11 months. It is during this period that the aromas develop, especially through malolactic fermentation, which brings all the complexity and finesse of a great wine. The cuvées are then left to rest for 2 months in tanks, where they may be optionally fined and lightly filtered to achieve perfect purity. Aging Potential 2 to 7 years.

The Chassagne-Montrachet, 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain, Vieilles Vignes is rich and well-structured, with notes of dried fruits and excellent purity. It combines woody and fruity notes with a very balanced, crystalline character on the palate. The wine is open and lively on the nose, with notes of citrus and dried fruit.  On the palate it is fruity, soft and subtle. The dried fruit flavours dominate giving depth to this elegant and distinguished 1er cru.
