‘Genetie’ describes both the estate in Saint-Véran and their search for hard to refuse ‘finds’ such as these parcels skilfully blended by Samantha Bailey.
The delicious Bourgogne Blanc Illuminé is from a 12 hectare plot in the village of Bussières, to the south of the Mâconnais region, with an average vine age of about 40 years. The soil is classic argilo-calcaire that suits Chardonnay so well and that lends elegance and finesse to the final wines. 10% of the wine is barrel aged to give a more textural, slightly creamy element.
A classic Chardonnay from Southern Burgundy – fine buttery and floral notes on the nose and a wine of substance and finesse on the palate. Some creamy textural notes up front reveal the discreet presence of oak, whilst on the finish there is some underlying minerality and a hint of citrus zestiness that provides long lasting flavours.
