Domaine Burle is a well regarded Gigondas producer and this is their ‘little’ Vin de Pays. The vineyard sits just outside the Gigondas appellation and while the blend is classically predominately Grenache it also includes some on the new varieties Marselan and Caladoc. Burle is run by brothers Damien and Florent and their wines have a rustic bent with no destemming of the bunches resulting in wines with fruit and guts!
The Est-ce que is medium to full bodied with ripe dark fruit and a good backbone from whole bunch pressing. Lots of lifted dark berry aromas lead onto a fruity palate with notes of dark cherry, touches of wild herbs, and a nice bit of a spicy kick. This wine has the vigour of youth with some sinuous acidity to balance everything off. Big and bold – this will go and go!
