Each new edition of the Bollinger PN cuvée brings with it a singular and contemporary vision of the Maison’s terroir and expertise, acting as a symbol of the union between tradition and innovation. Today, Bollinger welcomes a new edition into their range: PN VZ19. The base year is a 2019. The principal cru is Verzenay. The result of a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Pinot Noir, designed to make terroir the star of the show. This new PN VZ19 edition, with its unique taste, is a new interpretation.
Every one of these new interpretations represents Bollinger’s vision of Pinot Noir and its terroirs. Each new cuvée the union of a base year (2019) with a blend of terroirs (predominantly Verzenay) and reserve wines brings new properties to light, revealing unexpected nuances and unique sensory expressions in a fresh demonstration of our expertise and savoir-faire. Once again, PN VZ19 is a celebration of the exceptional.
Its dosage is moderate, at 6 grams per litre. Its maturation is more than twice as high as the Appellation rules.
For the most part, Bollinger PN VZ19, Champagne began its life in one of the Maison’s historic Grands Crus in the north of its vineyards. Blended here with terroirs from Aÿ to Louvois, wines from Verzenay are always full of freshness with a clearly defined, chiselled structure. With its depth, elegance, tension, and a saline finish evocative of the region’s characteristic chalky soils, PN VZ19 will delight the most informed palates. Subtle on the nose, taut on the palate.
The PNVZ 19 has a very expressive, fruity nose where orchard fruits are followed by red and even exotic fruit notes. A symphony of delicate, ethereal scents where every aroma comes together in perfect harmony.
All the fruitiness of the nose is on the palate, which blends white fruit and citrus notes in a mingling of Granny Smith acidity with fleshy vine peach and vibrant blood orange. A supple, silky texture makes for an extremely elegant wine. A touch of salinity on the finish adds a final flourish of complexity to this new edition. Although it is drinking delightfully now, this Champagne will cellar well and continue to evolve.
