Astrid Hubert, Les Vergers De La Morinière, Calvados, Pays d’Auge 2002

Astrid Hubert has 15 hectares in the heart of the Pays d’Auge. She uses 15 varieties of apples, together with 5% of pears, and never sprays her crop.

The cider is left in foudres for 1 year before distillation, the Calvados then being matured in long old oak barrels. She only makes single vintage Calvados which is of sublime quality. Hubert creates some superb farm-produced Calvados in the Pay d’Auge les Vergers de la Moriniere county, and this 2002 vintage is no exception. Fruit from the 200-year-old tree next to the brand’s cellar was used in this edition of single-vintage expression.

Les Vergers De La Morinière, Calvados is bursting with apples, pears and rich vanilla. Baking spice and a touch of toasty oak bring depth. Smooth and long.
