Beaujolais Blanc Classic from Jean Paul Brun is a racy Chardonnay with lovely stone fruit and citrus fruit flavours. The wine is unoaked and is a quite unique expressive of Chardonnay which has wonderful underlying acidity and a beautiful freshness which balances perfectly with the aromatic fruit. The grapes are sourced from a plot of 80-year-old vines grown on Charnay’s distinctive clay and limestone soils.
Jean-Paul is a very traditional winemaker who makes food-friendly wines of serious note at Domaine Terres Dorées. There is great complexity and concentration, along with the juicy fruit associated with Beaujolais, in his wines. He achieves this with minimum intervention and steers clear of manipulating the wines via carbon maceration, thermo-vinification and yeast inoculation or chapitalising which have become the norm in Beaujolais.
