In 2005, after seven generations of his family, Marc-Olivier Buffet became the main player at Domaine François Buffet, but his father François still lends a hand. He brings to bear all of his passion and expertise for and in grape-growing and wines. Today the Domaine covers an area of more than 7.5 hectares (18½ acres) and produces 15 appellations using grapes grown in the municipalities of Volnay and Pommard, not forgetting some great parcels of vineyards in Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses.
The Domaine uses no herbicides and chooses organic fertilizers rather than chemicals. A much more hands on approach is used to get the most from the vines.
This comes from Les Combes including some which is classified as 1er cru. Still a pale purple in the glass, and the nose is rather reticent at first. This is a delicate but stylish wine on the palate with red cherry, ripe raspberry and strawberry fruit. It has a firmer finish with some liquorice. A gastronomic wine.
