Château Brane-Cantenac is one of Margaux’s greats. Winemaker Henri Lurton – whose family is winemaking royalty in Bordeaux – created Margaux de Brane to give an early glimpse into the beauty of the Grand Vin. For Margaux de Brane, their 3rd wine, he selects from the younger plots on the estate, but the exact same care and attention are applied to it. One-third of the vines are farmed organically and the others are moving that way; this is a real labour of love and attention to detail.
2015 was one of those no-brainer vintages in Bordeaux, because it was so phenomenal. And the Margaux de Brane created in that year is silky, red fruit-driven and flecked with cassis, blackberry, plum crumble, vanilla and wildflowers. An exquisite choice for roasts, tomato-based sauces, classic French cuisine and impressing the neighbours.
The Second Growth Château Brane-Cantenac has really ramped up its game under Henri Lurton and has now become the winery that other winemakers in the region whisper about.
