Jean-Luc Thunevin bought this property in 2006 for his daughter Virginie Thunevin, and this gives the name of Domaine Virginie Thunevin. The same team run Château Valandraud: Christophe Lardière as head of the vines, Rémi Dalmasso as cellar master and Jean-Luc Thunevin with Claude Gros.
70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. Lovely fruit on the nose – raspberry ripple and loganberries. A touch airy at the core of summer fruits with cherry pit notes, and slightly perky acidity holding the finish together with silky, nicely integrated tannins. A lovely example of a fully developed claret from the 2011 vintage.
