The first trace of a Nudant in Aloxe Corton is in 1453. In the 1950’s, André Nudant starts to develop the estate by increasing the vineyard size. His son, Jean-René joins the business in 1978 and 25 years later, Guillaume arrives to support and take over from his father.
The vineyard of Domaine Nudant covers 16 hectares (39.5 acres), spread across Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, offering 17 appellations, from regional to Villages, 1er Crus and Grands Crus. The Clos de la Boulotte is a 1.12 hectare single vineyard of 60 year old vines and produces a super example of Aloxe-Corton. The first vintage was in 1995 and now produces 6-7k bottles. Isolated from others with high walls (clos), with the presence of Bouleaux (birch) inspiring its name.
From the more fruit forward 2019 vintage. Aromas of dried earth and forest floor, good red berries with raspberry and red cherry fruit. The palate is ripe red berries, a touch of vanilla, with ripe and tight tannins and good acidity. An excellent Burgundy from a small plot of old vines, produced by a small family Domaine.
Benefits from decanting as still quite young.
