Medievo wines are the fruit of the work of generations of farmers who form Medievo and from the hands and know-how of their winemaker Santiago Garde. Bodegas del Medievo grows its grapes in the foothills of the Sierra de Yerga. This area constitutes an ancestral edaphoclimatic unit, recognized since ancient times.
Although the winery is located at an altitude of 300m. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of between 400-550m. With not very fertile ferrous clay soils that together with the low rainfall make the vine grow in harsh conditions, limiting productivity and increasing quality.
Bodegas Medievo’s Organic Tempranillo is made using natural methods and techniques. However, it must follow strict rules for the cultivation and processing of organic vineyards which ensure 100% organic wines.
This Rioja has an intense cherry red colour with soft aromas of ripe red fruits, violet floral notes and hints of milk chocolate. On the palate it shows great freshness; is very round with lots of ripe berry fruit with a lingering finish. The 3 months aging in American oak helps to bring everything together.
